Eh, just start him out in high A next year and see if he learned anything in this experience.

Cueto had a tendency to lay turds across the plate in Dayton, but you can get away with it because the Vets aren't as good.

Well, I wouldn't be all that worried yet. He had a tough time tonight but had a few strings of consistant starts and his K/BB ratio has been okay. Give him a few more starts to see how he performs. IMO, still an outside shot of him starting at AA next season...

Look, Poindexters, it's a simple explanation. I TOLD Cueto to go out and lay a few meatballs!

This way he knows what it's like to get shelled at higher levels. It's important to take your beatings like a MAN. (They'll continue, too, until morale improves.)

I don't want our young pitchers getting too many wins or strikeouts or too low an ERA (like anyone cares about those new-age stats like ERA anyway) because then we'll have other teams coming and asking for them in trades. And I don't want any of these kids traded. They're too talented.

Anyway, these shorter outings are also in preparation for Cueto's move to the bullpen. Mr. Krivsky's told me that the Reds need help in the bullpen at the big-league level, so I made an executive decision to move Bailey, Wood and Cueto to the 'pen. After all, starters are just guys that lack the velocity and hard breaking stuff necessary to be closers.
