Reds minor league teams have bad coaching?

So I waas going back and looking at some of the Reds traded prospects numbers, and noticed some interesting things. I am going to post the stats of the guys, then point out some interesting things.

    Travis Chick
    Code:
Team W	L	ERA	G	GS	CG	SHO	SV	IP	H	R	ER	HR	BB	SO
    Chattanooga 4	5	4.61	16	16	0	0	0	84.0	79	45	43	12	36	77
    San Antonio 3	0	2.23	6	6	0	0	0	36.1	23	9	9	2	22	24
Travis Chicks hit rate has dropped dramatically. He has still had some control problems, as noticed by his walk totals. However look at the HR totals. He allowed 12 HR in 84 innings in Chattanooga and just 2 in 36.1 innings in San Antonio.

    Brandon Roberts
    Code:
Team G	AB	R	H	2B	3B	HR	RBI	TB	BB	SO	SB	CS	OBP	SLG	AVG
    Sarasota 60	247	40	66	5	1	1	15	76	16	39	23	7	.325	.308	.267
    Fort Myers 42	172	24	58	9	0	2	21	73	11	26	18	3	.382	.424	.337
Brandon has his avgerage up 70 points, he is getting on base quite a bit more, not striking out much still and hitting for quite a bit more power. Still stealing a ton of bases and not getting caught.

    Jeff Stevens
    Code:
Team W	L	ERA	G	GS	IP	H	R	ER	HR	BB	SO
    Dayton 2	4	4.43	14	6	42.2	42	22	21	6	16	43
    Lake County 5	1	4.10	10	9	41.2	35	22	19	3	13	34
Stevens seems to be about the same guy. Fewer hits per outting, but fewer strikeouts as well. Allowing a half as many home runs though.

Anyways, I got to thinking, do the Reds have bad coaches, or is it just something totally different, but Chick and Roberts are both performing much better with their new teams.

Small sample sizes, hot streaks ete ete. Notice Chick's k/9 sucks, worse than when he was with the Reds. Much like Pelland, Chick has no future starting in the big leagues.

When you are bringing in Sabo to be a hitting coach you know your minor league coaches are bad.

I can't speak about any specific individuals, but it's been my impression over the years -- based on bits and pieces heard from individuals that would know, and just the results themselves -- that the Reds' minor-league instruction has left much to be desired. Pitching has been an obvious disaster, and there haven't been that many position players either after you subtract the ones who were no-brainers on talent alone.

Krivsky got the job too late to make many changes for this year, I'm hoping he knows the right guys to get and can get them this winter.

Do you have a profile of Sabo's philosophy as a hitting coach?

Chick's already made 6 starts over there? Wow. Seems like it was only a couple weeks ago the deal was made.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:

I watched him as a player and the Guy was a pull hitter that wouldn't use right field. He was one of the worse base runners I ever saw. And any caught using a bat full of crazy balls loses rep points with me.

Whatever happened to Mike Greenwell? He used to coach in the reds system, and I believe had a lot to do with Dunn's success in the minor leagues.

It's probably akin to his baserunning philosophy: keep running until you score, or are tagged out.
