2000 Nissan Altima, which I bought used in Jan. 05. It's not bad. Reliable so far.
If I had the cash, I'd have gone Prius.

Stick to your guns.
We currently have three vehicles. My wife drives a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, which she likes. While I guess it avoids the minivan stigma, a minivan makes more sense, but it is what she wanted. It has AWD and was purchased new. In a little over two years she has put nearly 50,000 miles on it.
I usually have a choice of either driving a 2000 Ford Ranger 4X4 or a 1992 Corvette. Unless the weather is really, really bad, I opt for the Corvette about 95% of the time. I bought the Corvette 3 1/2 years ago. At the time it had just under 19,000 miles on it; now it has about 53,000 miles on the odometer. It is an absolute blast to drive---and I average 22-25 mpg! The Pacifica and Ranger get somewhere between 16 and 20 mpg, depending upon driving conditions.
My oldest son is 15 and now has his learner's permit, so there is a good chance we will become a four car family in the future ( I have two more sons). I've been considering turning the Ranger over to him next year and getting something else I can use in bad weather. I've considered new Honda Accords or used Audi A4s. I really like Mini Coopers, but the closest dealers are nearly 3 hours away in Cincinnati or Columbus.

Take it from me that you don't want to drive one where you live. Trust me on this one.Originally Posted by RedsBaron

I'm like woy, I've gotten to the age where I view my car as transportation instead of a life statement.

Keeping with GIK's Ford theme - I have a 2000 Windstar that's paid for that is dependable and feels like a tank when I drive it. Great van. I also have a 2001 Impala and it's one of the nicest GM cars I've had. I stepped down from a Buick Century to the Impala and I haven't missed a beat. It's a nice car.

Say, I had a 75 CJ5 and a 77 CJ7. Put monster gobber tires on them and did a lot of off-roading with them. Beat the crap out of both of them. Great fun vehicles to be a wild man in.Originally Posted by dabvu2498
But when I became a commuter, I got tired of getting bounced all over creation and bought an Accord (and my kidneys thanked me).
