I think they could have found a better one than the Joe Morgan play. It was a nice play but I think an Eric Davis catch should have been in there. But I realize they were trying to get one from the BRM and one from the early 90s teams and a recent one.

Gotta know the context of the play. 72 world series down 3 games to 1.

That play in 72 was amazing. Morgan came out of nowhere and had the brains to still call of Perez and make a tremendous play falling away from the direction he needed to throw.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.

I thought #2 was pretty damn good, but that's just my humble opinion.

still think the greatest play ever was ED racing from LF to CF to back up Hatcher, getting the ball, turning and firing to 3rd to nail Bobby Bonilla in the '90 playoffs.

but those on the list weren't too shabby either

Also have to think they wanted a Joe Morgan play since he's an ESPN employee now, with the added bonus that they could get him to comment on it.

It was a fine play but I think Freel by himself has had about 5 plays that could rival any of the ones that were chosen.

If they wanted a Glenn Braggs catch, Game 6 of the NLCS robbing Carmelo Martinez is Braggs' highlight of the career.

Re: Tops Reds web gems ever airing very soon on BBTN

I saw it last night and I was disappointed.

#3 was Joe Morgan's catch in the 9th inning of the 72 Series against the A's in which he went behind 1st base caught the ball, slipped and threw out the runner at home.

#2 Was Glenn Bragg's catch. It was against the Giants. I'm not sure the year. It was a catch in which he dove and had situated his glove in a manner that it would have been difficult if not impossible to catch. So he used the back of his glove to knock the ball up in the air and catch it with his bare hand.

#1 Was Ryan Freel. I think it was last year. It was in Wrigley against the Cubs. It was on that foiled bunt attempt in which he went all out towards the dugout diving and eventually catching the ball. Very good catch.

IMO the only one that was that great of a play was Freel's. I felt ripped offf that I watched it. No ED catches?? No, Davey or Barry diving plays?? No Paul O'Neil great throws?? Very disappointed.
