    Sagarin ratings of NL hitters

Apologies if this was discussed before and I missed it. Some interesting stuff here in Sagarin's ratings of NL hitters.

    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/nlb06.htm

Ranking is based on runs per game, which I take it is the same as runs created. Others can comment on the validity of the Markov method that is used, but check where some Reds are:

    353 or more PA:

    Hatteberg - #6 (wow!)
    Dunn - #12
    Freel - #27
    Phillips - #53
    Griffey - #68
    Clayton - #88 (out of 92)

    114-352 PA:

    Ross - #3 (out of 105)
    EdE - #11
    Aurilia - #20

    EDIT: Added BP and Junior

Only 4 players with at least 353 PA are ranked below him, and 2 of them are Astros.

Yeah, big shocker there, Ausmus and Everett. Who'd have ever guessed?

Okay, okay...it's time for me to admit...

I HATED the Hatteberg signing when it happened. I was one of the guys leading the cry to trade for Broussard or pick up Carlos Pena.

But I'm a believer now. I'm a Hatteberg guy. I like having him on the team and I like having him in the batting order. He knows what he's doing.

    Thumbs up, Wayne!
For every action there is an equal and opposite criticism.
