Good for Michalak; he deserves to be up.

Bergolla??? A 23-year-old who's held his own in AAA? I would have lopped off Brandon Watson instead. Or even Perez, although there's nothing in the system at catcher behind him.

at 35 I would say chances past him by a long time ago. Nothing but a disaster waiting to pitch.

I'd put money on Mercker never throwing another pitch in the big leagues. He's done.

Re: Mercker DLed, Michalak called up, Bergolla DFA

My question is whether Michalak will be starting tonight in place of Ramirez or filling in as a LH reliever in place of Mercker. Thus far this season, Michalak has been used as a starter (22 of 23 appearances).

As for Bergolla, I don't understand this move except that it signals that Brendan Harris has passed Bergolla on the organizational depth chart in Krivsky's office. I've expected Harris to be the next 2B since Krivsky acquired him, but I didn't expect the last, next 2B to be jettisoned so quickly, especially since he is so young.

I gave up trying to figure out what they are doing a number of moves back. For the past month everything has amounted to little more than thrashing.

    What? Why was Bergolla DFAd?

He doesn't have a snowballs chance on the sun to clear waivers.

Mercker is done. Should have called up Homer and put him as the setup man. I would have rather seen Burns then Shack. I hope Michalak is only a 1 day thing in case we need him in long relief.

I bet he'll see multiple innings tonight, whether it be in relief or starting. Move makes sense.

Wait so he is left handed too? Why don't you just call up Shack? The only reason I thought they chose him over Shack was becuase they didn't want another lefty.

This BETTER be only a 1 day thing.

I'm baffled Bergolla was DFA'd. It makes no sense at all.

I'd say it might be. But if he does well, you never know. You know how JN gets when he has another middle-aged guy in the clubhouse.

Kriv: Bad news Jerry, you lost another 30+ year old. Kent isn't feeling well and we're gonna have to DL him. The good news is we called up Michalak from AAA. Another lefty.

JN: WHAT? A MINOR LEAGUER? COULDN'T YOU HAVE TRADED FOR MOYER OR RANDY JOHNSON??? MAYBE SEE HOW RIJO IS FEELING AND SIGN HIM TO A MINOR LEAGUE CONTRACT???? HOW ABOUT OROSCO?

Kriv: Jerry, he's 35. Wait until you meet him, what a presence. You'll feel positively teenage-like when you are just in his vicinity. And don't get me started on his glove. He's like a cat on the mound. Unbelievable.

JN: Hmmm...we could use someone like that. After I finally relented and started EdE the past few days, this team has been missing something. Nice move Wayne, nice move.
