the last curveball he throws in the first clip is Carlos Zambrano-like.

The speed on the curveball was sick. It looked like it was slider speed, but with curve movement.

Bailey is really a tall, lanky guy, with a simliar delivery to Josh Beckett. I can see why he has been compared to him.

Notice that over the shoulder throwing motion Bailey has. Alot of teams don't like that motion because it leads into shoulder problems down the road. But if you have a smooth motion and drive with your thighs, the pressure off the shoulder is decreased a good deal. 3/4 deliveries protect the shoulder but bother the elbow, thus causing possible elbow problems.

Chris Gruler is somebody if you watch his Pre-draft workout video's that also had a over the shoulder motion but didn't drive with his thighs thus increasing the pressure on his shoulder which his long 2002 season helped cause major damage to the shoulder as he needed more and more use of the shoulder to get his velocity to 92-95 he was throwing that year. Yet, Gruler was considered to have "smooth" mechanic's. That may have been, but the effort he put into his throws is much more than Bailey's. The fact the Reds didn't figure that out, is a testament to this franchise's developemental abilities over the years.

Hence, why Bailey is flying like a Hawk in his 2nd full year and Gruler is staring at the concrete floor in Sarasota trying to figure out what went wrong.

Maybe it isn't the "type" of delivery you have so much, but the effort used from the Legs/Arm.

Brandon McCarthy pitches straight over the top also. His delievery is a little more herky jerky then Homer's is though.
