It's a long one, so I'll just provide the link.

Thanks. Good article. I'm all for the pitch counts and banning the curveball in Little League. My son pitches and is on a strict pitch count. He will not throw a curveball until he is 15 or 16. Fastball, changeup, and different finger pressure.

We had a very good pitcher in my grade who ruined his arm his 8th grade year and never got to pitch in high school. The coaches didnt take care of him, and because of that his baseball career was cut short.

I think it makes sense to limit these kids pitches. Pitching puts tremendous strain on a young arm and my guess is that few coaches really know a lot about teaching kids to pitch correctly. There was a kids I went to school with who threw seeds. Then in high school the coach saw him pitch and freaked out about his mechanics. He took him aside and taught him how to pitch so that he was using his legs more and so that his motion wouldn't stress out the elbow so much.
I believe he probably saved the kid from a lot of trouble.

I pitched when I was a kid. Threw has hard as I could for 5-6 innings a game and never had a problem. Then when I was older I got moved to SS. Then I started having arm problems. Weird.
