MAJEWSKI UPDATE: Right- hander Gary Majewski, on the disabled list with a sore shoulder since Aug. 7, threw a bullpen session before Friday's game.
"It was good," he said. "Rest is what I needed. It's like night and day."
Majewski's injury, of course, was at the heart of the controversy between the Reds and the Washington Nationals. The Reds claim the Nats didn't tell them about a cortisone shot Majewski had just before the trade. The Nationals say they revealed what they were obligated to share.
Majewski hasn't paid attention to that.
"Sorry, I don't read much or watch too much TV," he said.
He threw 30 to 35 pitches in the bullpen session.
"We'll see how he feels (today)," trainer Mark Mann said, "and progress him from there."
Majewski is eligible to come off the DL Tuesday. That probably won't happen. He'll throw a couple more bullpen sessions and then go on a rehab assignment.
WILSON'S DONE: It's no shocker, but right-hander Paul Wilson is done for the year.
Wilson hasn't thrown at all since his minor-league rehab assignment was cut short in late July.
He won't until the offseason.
"It stinks," he said. "But what can you do?"
Wilson has been rehabbing the shoulder since June 17, 2005, surgery.
He has been unable to maintain velocity.
CLAUSSEN UPDATE: Left-hander Brandon Claussen was in the clubhouse Friday, wearing a sling as result of his shoulder surgery Monday.
Claussen was glad he had the surgery when he did. A small tear of the rotator cuff was discovered.
"It didn't show up on the MRI," Claussen said. "It makes the rehab a little different."
Claussen won't be able to throw off the mound until January. Had he waited, he would have been pushing it to be ready in time for spring.
