From a national perspective: Scott Hatteberg, hands down.
From a local perspective: Eric Milton (very, very solid all year except around his injuries)

I voted Milton. He gets a lot of flack for having such a big contract and giving up a lot of long balls but he has been very solid on the mound this year, especially when Narron doesn't try and get an extra inning out of him.

From a press perspective Edwin is an easy winner here.
When national press types go and try and fill out a lineup for the reds, they would probably put somebody else at third, heck, our own manager does it often enough. From press reports you wouldn't recognize the year the guy is having. From press reports, he's all about errors.

From a local perspective I voted Milton.

He's not cy young or even angus young for that matter but he's kept us in games and put up respectable numbers this year. A vast improvement over the hell that was 2005. He needed him to be at least mediocore to have any hope this year. And, IMO, he's delivered.
a super volcano of ridonkulous suckitude.

I simply don't have access to a "cares about RBI" place in my psyche. There is a "mildly curious about OBI%" alcove just before the acid filled lake guarded by robot snipers with lasers which leads to the "cares about RBI" antechamber though. - Nate

I voted for Dunn -- he's still underrated.

Milton would be a close second.

Maybe I have a different perspective as an out-of-towner, but Harang gets little credit for the Reds turnaround this year. Heck, his name is even spelled wrong in the poll...

Typos suck! I did get it right in the overrated poll but I can't figure out if I can fix it here.

Milton's ERA is 5. How exactly is he underrated?

That is very much bloated by starts right before he went on the DL and starts right after he came off the DL. Other than that, it would probably be in the mid-to-low 3's.

So, if we remove his bad starts his ERA looks good. Got it.

Milton is feeling a little love around here because he has strung together some pretty good starts lately. Let's hope he keeps it up through the end of the year.

It's Hatteberg in my mind, judging from how late that we signed him and the year he has had. While not entirely forgotten, he has made that debacle of a trade to the Pirates a little easier to swallow.

Actually, I have liked Milton since the beginning of the year. I thought he looked vastly improved from day one. He had strengthened his legs and had less pressure on him. And yes, give him the benefit for the the pre-/post-DL starts. Very few, if any pitchers perform well in that situation. That said he is not worth the money. But we have him, and should be pleased with his performance.
