If RA is gong to take over as the SS ...

doesn't the reason for Clayton being on the roster go away?

I honestly am skeptical that Narron will stick with RA.

There was never a good reason for Clayton being on the roster.

Castro can provide that. No need for two backup shortstops.

at the time of the trade I pointed out I would have liked it better if it was only a 7 player deal(no Clayton).

especially ones that don't hit well.

Even if you wanted an extra backup SS/IF type then Olmedo with his speed and switch hitting would be a much better bet than Clayton.

Not that I like Clayton, but I didn't see Denorfia making much contact.(Looked overmatched most of the time to me) He does run and field OK.

Exactly. I think Denorfia can be at least an average player in the bigs, but his last time up he looked completely clueless both at the plate and in right field.

I'm not seeing it with Denorfia. I don't think he is quite a "Brady Clark" at this stage, and that is the type of player I see in Denorfia.

Seriously. This entire question is based upon the false premise that Clayton had any business here in the first place.

If he turned out to be a Brady Clark, I could live with that. But so long as Freel is playing all god-like in right field, the Deno question is moot.

yes, but I suspect with the 40-man expansion on Sept 1st it won't hurt to keep shuttling Royce around in the team bus. He'll get a couple starts a week I would think. Sunk cost insurance in case one of Nature Boy or Manos de Oro goes down with an injury or something over the next few weeks.
