I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

if you are obtaining copywrighted software, etc., then no, it's not legal.Originally Posted by 919191

It's also illegal to drive over the speed limit.

i wouldn't really have this topic here, or atleast break up the words bi ttor rent, spiders for RIAA have been known to pick up these words and such.
Here's the counterargument. If you exceed the speed limit but drive safely and attentively, that's a victimless crime. If you download copyrighted software, that's stealing. Stealing is not a victimless crime.Originally Posted by Hap
I don't say this to shake my finger at anybody. I used to take music in the early days of Napster, but after some soul searching decided it wasn't for me.
Stick to your guns.
Actually, I was referring to live shows- one from I think it was The Bluebird in Bloomington in May. I am under the impression it was recorded with the knowledge of the artist, but I guess that doesn't even make it legal (or right) if it is cpoyrighted material. I've never downloaded anything I haven't paid for- I guess I never wanted to risk prosecution for something I don't want that much anyway- heck, I am struggling even trying to figure it out.

As stated by someone else, its the people who make it available for download that are the ones prosecuted. My brother uses this stuff all the time to download everything and then some.Originally Posted by 919191
