Were they already playing Victorino full time? If not, he's as good Rowand...
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
The way he landed he's lucky a broken ankle is all he had. You hate to see a player get hurt, but when you're in a race you take all the help that comes your way.
No, S.V. was coming off the bench & playing on starter's off days, but is now the full-time CF replacement.Originally Posted by RedsManRick

when i saw the replay i thought for sure he broke his neck... that had to be the scariest hit i have seen.. everytime they played it back i cringed..
I guess you didn't see the one in San Diego last year between Carlos Beltran & Mike Cameron..Originally Posted by redsfan4445
I saw them both. While the Beltran/Cameron collision was more serious due to the head knocking, the Utley/Rowand smashup has to be in the discussion.Originally Posted by Tornon
Rarely do you see an outfielder's glove fly off his hand--with the ball still resting inside the mitt. That's how forceful the Phillies collision was....
Aaron Rowand is the unsafe/unlucky version of Ryan Freel.
Great effort by the guy, but I'm surprised Rowand hasn't killed himself by now. First the OF wall, now completely locking on a ball that Utley had viciously called. I know players get tunnel vision to go after the ball, but wow. Rowand's lucky to be alive.
That doesn't help the Phillies cause.
Of course, them being sellers was supposed to indicate that they wouldn't make a run...
