This date in baseball history: 1989

I was 12 years old, a lifelong Reds fan.

This was the day that Commissioner A. Bartlett Giamatti announced the lifetime ban of one Peter Edward Rose, breaking my heart.

I recall hearing the press conference on my cheap little alarm clock radio while sorting through baseball cards in my bed room.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

I actually set my alarm clock (teenagers never wake up before noon in the summer) and got out of bed and watched it live.

I remember I was working a second job in a mail department and had the radio on in the van. A SAD DAY.
    * Attended the 1990 and 2010 Reds Division clinchers *

Watched the 2012 Clincher on FOX.
