    Bailey A September Call Up?

    Rotoworld.com:

Double-A Chattanooga's Homer Bailey moved to 6-0 by throwing five scoreless innings on Wednesday.

Reds GM Wayne Krivsky said this week that he hasn't ruled out bringing Bailey up in September. However, unless there's a clear need, he's expected to remain at Chattanooga through the end of the minor league season and into the playoffs.

    Unless there's a clear need???

So what's holding him up, exactly?

I think one of our pitcher's arms will have to fall off before Bailey is called up.

    And I mean that literally.
We'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

Look at what happened to Hirsh, who started ahead of Bailey in the Futures game. His numbers were just as spectacular in the minors. Reds rocked him.

I'd call him up and put him in the bullpen. I don't want him starting this year for multiple reasons.

    He isn't Ryan Wagner...

He seems to have his head on straight.

Wagner was called up the same season he was drafted. This is Homer's 3rd(?) year in our system.

Re: Bailey A September Call Up?

I could care less if Bailey could come up now and toss 20 above average innings since he has over 130 innings logged on his arm already this year. Do you want 175 innings on a 20 year old power pitcher? To me, that is just asking for trouble, not to mention the chance of Homer tossing above average innings at this level are remote.

Re: Bailey A September Call Up?

Does anyone know why Bailey usually only throws 5 or 6 innings?

Seems a lot of times he has a great game going but is taken out of the game midsteam. Is it pitch count? 4 hits off him is a gold rush for the other team. Hard to believe he has high pitch counts at that point in the game.

Any thoughts? I haven't paid a lick of attention to him other than hearing in passing that he shut down another AA team. I just don't recall seeing him go 8 or 9 innings.

If they are just bringing him along slowly, I certainly have no complains, just curious.

Ryan Wagner pitched in college, so it's not exactly the same situation as Bailey.
