    Burns traded to Boston

Reds, Red Sox swap minor league relievers

Cincinnati sent right-hander Mike Burns to Boston on Monday, getting right-hander Tim Bausher and cash in a swap of relievers

    Didn't see this anywhere. Thoughts?

Anybody got anything about Bausher? This is the first I have heard of this trade.

Bausher has been both a starter and reliever. Has been clocked in the high 90s on the radar gun. He has an excellent slider. Has had significant injury problems in the past. Apparently Bausher is a world class hackey sack player as well.

He is also a free agent at end of year, this had to have been a money move, we got cash as well.

Sounds like Ryan Wagner in 4 years.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Except Wagner doesn't hit the high 90s on the gun.

Bingo. Burns was sold, in effect.
