Never mind. Standridge walks Gonzalez on four in a row. Frank Pastore's going to rip the #35 right off his back.

intersting that Kearns has more BBs than Ks since being traded. It was 30-29 the last I looked.

    Shack in the 'pen.

Jason pumps in two straight strikes to Cameron. But Mike dumps a blooper into right for his third hit.

The Reds' pitchers sure aren't "ahead" of any hitters lately--and that includes Harang.

Blum's grounder to second is tossed to short, but the runner is called safe! Bases are now loaded with nobody out.

I think it's a throwing error on Phillips.

interesting that amidst all the clamoring to move him to SS, he has made a boatload of errors for a 2B.

RFK is eating him up, pretty brutal .213/.301/.288/.589 at home

Grounder to short is converted to the force at home, but Barfield beats the throw to first. One out, bases still jammed for Peavy.

he did hit a GW HR in the bottom of the 8th there tonight. RFK eats up a lot of hitters not named Soriano.

Standridge uses his two pitches, a fastball of indeterminate random location and a slider that dives two feet outside, to K Peavy for the second out.

Shack coming on to face Dave Roberts.

That's a pretty unfair criticism of Phillips. I have problems with his offensive game, but he's been brilliant defensively. Errors, as you know, mean next to nothing (cf. EdE).

The other thing I'd say about Standridge: he's what you get when you have a first-round pick who never develops a particular sense of how to pitch or significant offspeed stuff.

However, errors are an issue, like it or not. Having 15 errors at 2B translates to a bunch more playing SS which I would doubt is acceptable.
