12 team, six man Keeper Baseball advice is needed.

This is my first time doing keeper baseball. I have to declare 6 players to keep before the World Series ends. I was thinking Jeter and Oswalt and Dunn and Arroyo are top canidates to keep. Schilling and Pedro are possible pitchers to keep. The position possibilities are Ross, Laroche, Freel, Phillips. Should I look at the multi position players as good building blocks? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You have easy choices for 4 of your 6 spots. The no brainers in my opinion are:

    EE
    Oswalt
    Dunn
    Jeter

After that, you can pretty much pick whatever other 2 players you think will do well next season. I would personally keep Pedro and either Cordero or Schilling.

Another piece of advice is to not be in love with all the Reds players just because you are a fan of the Reds. You have 13 current or former Reds on your current roster. Even in a 12 team fantasy league, Cormier, Bray, Coffey, and Hatteberg should not be on your team if you want to compete.

When it comes to fantasy sports you have to try not to have any personal feelings be involved when you draft. I really dislike the Yankees as an organization, but I would take everyone of their stud players on my fantasy team every year.

Thanks for the advice Buckeye33. I think EE, Oswalt, Dunn and Jeter I will definately keep. I will then decide between the 3 you suggested.

Pedro is a must keep, even with age and injury considerations. Not saying I would him but I think LaRoche should be in the discussion
More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that's not only better, but also more directly involves me.

Iowared thats a good point about Laroche. Would Phillips also be part of the consideration?

Not for me but I think it could be argued. By the way, Buckeye's advice is very solid. Putting team loyalty aside is an absolute must if you are playing to win vs. just having fun. Good luck

This is my team now. I still have to choose six players as my Keepers. What advice can anyone give?

Pretty much the same as before.

    Jeter
    Oswalt
    Dunn
    EE
    Schilling

Then you'd have to decide on either Pedro or Arroyo as your 6th. I'd take Pedro because he is on a better team and could still be a legit #1 starter. Arroyo is to up and down.

I ended up keeping Dunn,Jeter,Oswalt, Schilling,Pedro Martinez and Arroyo. It was a tough call.

    Jeter
    Dunn
    Oswalt
    Arroyo
    Phillips
    Edwin Encarncion
These were the six I declared for now. We have to pick them by end of the World Series. I decided to go with youth and have the infield positions plus Dunn. Oswalt and Arroyo are not bad to be pitching anchors.

The keeper picks are final for the season after the World Series except for one last chance to change the keepers before the draft.
