Kim to start, Jason Johnson to be called up

At last: The veil of secrecy lifts

Sun-Woo Kim will get the start tomorrow afternoon. Also, Jason Johnson will be brought up tomorrow, to be used in long relief.

They'll have to make a 40-man move to bring Johnson in. I don't see them designating any of the few 40-man guys not here already (Coutlangus, Dumatrait, Perez, Votto, Watson), so they may make another 60-day DL move. Eddie Guardado will be getting something called a "saline-enhanced MRI" tomorrow to re-check his elbow, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he is shut down. I guess we'll have to see.

Also, Junior says he's fine. They have to wait for the swelling to go down, then go from there. Definitely won't see him before Friday, though.

So day to day is now at least 4 days, and the swelling hasn't even gone down yet. Do they really need to sell tickets that badly?

I can't possibly see this ending well.

I've had that on my back, that no fun, and my understanding is they do it when they know something is wrong but just can't get a good enough picture into the problem.

While I was underwhelmed by the Sun Woo Kim signing, I commend the front office for being creative. I guess he had a road ERA of 2.80 at Triple A this year, despite getting bombed in Colorado. According to Marty on the radio, a couple scouts saw something.

His results were good yesterday. The Reds were just a couple bats short (say maybe a Kearns or a Lopez short).
How, then, are those people of the future—who are taking steroids every day—going to look back on baseball players who used steroids? They're going to look back on them as pioneers. They're going to look back at it and say "So what?" - Bill James, Cooperstown and the 'Roids
