    Last game of the year

Opening day is a huge extravaganza and many people have little rituals associated with the game. Some people take the day off. Others take their kids out of school. Some make sure to watch the game on tv.

Question is, do you have any sort of rituals involving the last game of the year?

I guess it counts as a "ritual" but I make it a point to listen to the entire last game on the radio from pregame through the last second of the broadcast. There's a sense of sadness to it that I'll be without baseball for several months and for whatever sick reason I like that sense of finality and "loss". I know it's wacky.

I meant the actual last game, but last home game is fine too.

Typically mine is watching the Bengals game and checking the Reds score at commercials.

I shoot my TV and kick my dog. Then I eat an entire carton of Moose Tracks, crawl into bed, and wait for spring.

We always go to the last home series (usually the last of the year,, but not this year). We are going this year, but just Thur tgru Sun, not Monday. The Reds always open at home, and they almost always close at home, too. Is the closing at home so often just some schedule anomaly, or is there a reason the Reds almost always close at home?
I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

They close in Pittsburgh this season. But you are right it does seem like in most years past they do close at home.
The last day of the regular season I find very sad. It's like another mark in time and that another year has passed. I have always considered baseball like an old friend who comes around for six months or so but leaves you when the weather turns cooler and end of the year is at hand.
I should add that I try to watch the end of very last game going on the MLB Extra Innings package. Just to put a capper on the regular season.

For this year's last game we have something special planned. There will probably be about 10-15 in our group, all Reds fans. We'll get together right around game time or a little after. We'll set up the grill and cookout, have a couple coolers full of cold beer, eat a bunch of really good food, probably play some catch or cornhole for sure. We'll have the game on the radio and follow it.

After the game is over we'll put all that away and walk into Paul Brown Stadium for the Bengals Patriots.

    Good plan!!!

I'll be doing something very similar before UT-Florida game Saturday and before Browns-Bengals Sunday.
