    Luis Gonzalez FA

bring in luis gonzalez next year on the cheap to play in the of, he would be a solid corner guy and freel can go back to utility...we need to sing of's like thise, look at the cardinals, they always sign journeymen for the corners and they do fine (reggie sanders, juan encarnacion, etc.) these are the guys the reds should get and not be running a denorfia out there, sorry to say, deno is terrible, the guy may hit .300 eventually, w/ what 2 hrs? I will pass

an excellent chance he could end up in Cincy.

"I think there are going to be several - five, six, seven - teams that are going to be suitors for him," said Terry Bross, one of Gonzalez's agents. "I think there will be a lot of activity, probably very early in the free-agent signing period." One National League general manager echoed those sentiments. "I don't think he'll have any trouble at all (finding a job)," the GM said. "He's a clutch, professional hitter. I think he's still got enough power in the bat, and he's probably one of the greatest doubles hitters of all time." Gonzalez's power numbers have declined in recent years, his home runs dropping from 57 in 2001 to just 15 with two weeks to go this season
veteran scrappiness factor will be off the charts.

If you get a good deal for Dunn, trade him.

If Griffey still refuses to move positions, then you have to look at Gonzo as a stop gap until Bruce arrives. With our ballpark, his numbers would almost certainly go up a bit.

If it could be done on the cheap, sure.

Chase field is a more hitter friendly stadium than GAB...

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

after Dunn is traded, Jr goes on the DL the Reds OF will be Freel, Denorfia and Hollandsworth. (there is absolutely no OF in the system ready to contribute)

    I can't wait.

Add Hopper to the mix. He'll platoon with Hollandsworth.

I forgot about him. High contact, low K, few BBs and zero power. He could be an everyday player.

Does that mean Olmedo can play everyday at 2B?

Only if Clayton is not on the team. I still doubt this team moves Phillips to SS.

I think Clayton is a goner. If Phillips doesn't move, who plays SS? Surely not RA. Maybe he trades for a defensive SS?

I could see Dunn going to Anaheim for Aybar (who I am not enamored with)

I would doubt it, the Reds would get an extra piece or two of flotsam.

How about throwing in a soft tossing starter that can't miss bats?
