This team has quit... time to think of next year

Right now I bet BOB wishes he never extended Narrons contract.. but i am feling that wont stop him from geting rid of Jerry since he has shown he isnt a motivator.. "Nice guys finish Last!"

I see a new manager and coaching staff in 2007.. not to mention a few major player changes to get some new blood in here..

I see Dunn dangled and hech i would take Jason Bay over Dunn!!

hmm a Zach Duke and Jason Bay in a package around Dunn and Travis Wood??

or Dunn, Deno, Wood and Hatteberg and another prospect to Baltimore for Tejada and Bedard

then sign Hunter and move jr to LF

    guess we shall see

Jr will be the everyday centerfielder next year and bat 3rd, mark it down.

With all due respect, I will mark it down under the column that says NO WAY.

I hate to say it but the last two weeks makes me wonder if Narron is the guy for next year I know he is allready signed but the reds have eaten contracts this year and the team seems to have quit and Narron must take some of the blame

I think you guys are on the right track. Narron needs to go. He has pulled too many stupid moves and they have all caught up with him at the end of the year. I truly hope that Castelini and co. are as committed to winning as I believe they are. It would be great to bring back a manager like Lou P. or Davey Johnson...someone who knows how to win.

I, too, would trade Adam Dunn. I like the trades that have been proposed already above. It would be beyond great to bring in Tejada and Bedard.

I am not so sure that Griffey is a keeper. I wonder if he could be traded as well. Unload some salary and go and get a Torey Hunter (or someone similar) in the free Agent Market.

i would also unload some of the old guys in the bullpen...starting with Cormier. Weathers should also probably be gone.

It's time to shore things up and go for a perenial winner. STARTING NOW!

I don't know about the rest of your post, but I like the idea of acquiring Tejada.

Tejada would be awesome. Maybe send them dunn, although I am a huge dunn fan, Im a reds fan first and if it helps this team to win then no one is untradeable. I dont see junior going anywhere, nobody wants that contract with that fragile of a body. Ownership would take a big hit by trading the teams most popular player to. I would like to see someone like Gil Meche be pursued. Zito and the other top pitchers arent even going to think about coming here but there are some second tier guys that would fit nicely in our rotation.

Re: This team has quit... time to think of next year

Personally I wish this team would have done this a little sooner so that

    1. We wouldn't have Narron under contract
    2. We wouldn't have made that stupid trade with the Nats
    3. We wouldn't have had to hope for this team when in reality all of us knew that it was not a team built to win. Yes I enjoyed some of the games but it really never felt like 1999 to me.
    4. We could have made trades for next year. Yes I know this is an unpopluar move but I can't help but feel that part of this team's problem
is that our GMs (save DanO) has made moves that were designed to try to help a deeply flawed team "get to the playoffs". I seriously long for a GM who has the guts to do something like the Indians and to some extent the Marlins have done. We have once again put off the rebuilding of this team and our 2007 and 2008 will probably show it.
    5. One last thing is that WayneK's contract would not had been extended. He has only proven one thing to me so far...He isn't scared to pick up someone and then DFA him(spend someone else's money).

I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit.

Does anyone know the status of A's pitcher, Rich Harden? He hasn't pitched in 3 months & is scheduled to go on thursday. Harden was a soon to be ace before the injury. The A's have already stated they will not re-sign Frank Thomas or Jason Kendall. Ross, Dunn, Milton & a boat load of cash ($5-8 mil) would look good in Oakland, maybe for Harden & Nick Swisher. I have a friend that lives in the Bay area, he says O'Brien was offered Swisher & Joe Blanton for Dunn last off-season.

Baltimore's not going trade Tejada and Bedard for Dunn et al, when they wouldn't trade just Tejada for Oswalt and Everett.

It's sad, but I think you are right.

To the person that said, "no way." Why? If Narron is back, we will see Junior out in center and hitting 3rd all season next year. Narron has said and shown that he thinks Griffey belongs there. Unless we get a manager with some balls to tell Griffey to move, then were stuck with Griffey in center and clogging the line up in the 3 spot.

I really can't wait for the season to end and the offseason to begin. You know Wayne's going to be up to something and I still do have faith he'll make the necessary moves to make us a contender. The FeLo/Ears deal may not have worked out the way we wanted but not everyone move can be the right one, and some will be wrong. I still do think Majewski/Bray can end up helping the club in the long run and that Wayne learned something from it.

Can someone tell me the status of Carl Crawford? He seems to me what the Reds need (although I admit I've never seen him play) combo of speed and some pop.................. When does he becaome a FA (or would the D-Rays ever trade him(Team Clark??)).

    Based on this years numbers...

Griffey should be hitting ~5th vs RHP and riding the pine vs LHP.

If Griffey is in CF or hitting 3rd in 2007 it could be another frustrating season.

IIRC, the D-Rays locked him up for like six years last season and consider him a player to build their team around. I think the Reds could offer their entire farm system for him and still not get him. He's a true impact player.
