    Any scotch drinkers?

My buddy got me a pretty nice bottle of scotch... gotta compliment the smoothness and taste.

    Any other scotch fans?

    What'd he get you?

Are you a pure scotch drinker, or are you a blend drinker?

    Name your taste.

For me, I'm a huge Johnnie Walker Blue fan, but also appreciate the Green and Gold varieties.

I also definitely enjoy Macallan, preferably 18 year or older, and particularly with Highland water (the choice way to serve @ Nicholson's across from the Aronoff)

Every now and then, I'll sip some Talisker, and ironically the 10 year isn't bad, but obviously the older the better, as with most scotches.

So yeah, that's a little sampling of the scotch I consume on a semi-regular basis.

Go to Nicholson's and they'll ask you if you'd like your scotch with Highland still, I believe they called it, which if you read their little quips in their scotch menu, it's basically Scotish distilled water. Really brings out the taste of older scotches.

I toured several distilleries in the Highlands last year. When I asked one of the distillers where they got their water from, he giggled and said, "it is from the stream next to the parking lot." So, if you truly purchased Highland still, you are probably getting the runoff from someone's diesel engine.

I brought back bottles of Mortlach and Longmorn-Glenlivet from Scotland, both of which are great scotches that you can't buy stateside. I enjoy nearly all Speyside single malts, and I tend to stay away from the Islays and peatier scotches (Oban, Talisker, etc.). I have had a few cask-strength scotches (~60% alcohol), and I can't say I enjoyed them much. I guess I don't have the intestinal fortitude to handle those spirits.

For Macallan lovers, the distillery replicates a vintage 1930s Macallan that is out of this world (500mL bottle). You should be able to get it here in the states.

    it's a 12 year old Dalmore.

I'm a relative noob when it comes to scotches... he said this was a good one to start out with.

He told me he'd kick my ass if I drank it any way other than neat! LOL

We enjoy J&B. I wouldn't mind an aged scotch, but the husband is cheap, and the longest a new bottle has aged in this house, is a month:all_cohol :
