    Patching it up

How do the Reds get better without total reconstruction?

    1. Move Griffey to right field and get a good all around centerfielder.

    2. Move Phillips to shortstop. Re-sign RA for second base.

    3. Return Freel to the utility role. Let him play some second base (when RA plays first) and some outfield.

    4. Add a third solid starter to go with Arroyo and Harang. (Some combination of guys like Lohse (if affordable), EZ, ultimately Bailey, Milton if still around, fill out the rotation.)

    5. Keep the best of the 100 relievers on the roster and add a veteran closer.

    6. Bench is Valentin, Castro, Freel, Deno, and either Hollandsworth or a different lefty outfielder.

Or should they blow it up?
