Next Year: Castro or No Castro?

    That is the question.

Do you pay him a million dollars for next year, or do you take the $50,000 buyout?

Buyout. Might as well let Olmedo take Castro's spot for the minimum.

They don't use him enough to make it worth it. Unless you are going to play him everyday offensive deficiency aside then set him free

There's cheaper/better alternatives out there for under 1M.

Juan Castro is the bane of my existence. Please no. I don't ask for a lot. A warm meal. Cold beer. My call girls with large, ummmmmmm, hands. And no Juan Castro (or Joe Randa or Dave Williams or Jeremy Burnitz or Tony Womack) on the Reds

That pretty much guarantees Castro's return. You had your chance at the reverse jinx, but, alas, the opportunity has passed.

I'd buy him out then negotiate to bring him back at somewhere in the neighborhood of $500K.

Not if Narron is the manager. He uses him to pinch hit. Which is the stupidest thing any manager has ever done IMO.

Ideally he gets a spot start and comes in on double switches. I hear you about Narron but Castro's a good guy to have on the bench. Perhaps his most valuable role is as a mentor to someone like EE both on and off the field. I like him better than Olmedo or Bergolla or even DanO's pet whose name escapes me at this time.

I agree about that. I just think Narron over uses him. I'd keep Castro over Narron though....

Exactly! Every time I see Castro pinch it with the game on the line I cringe. The reds brought him here for his defense and Narron treats him like he is a key bat off the bench.

Fidel might be worth the 1 mil, but if it turns out to be Raul, then I opt for the buyout.
    Let's play two!!!
