Nobody seems to compain in the NFL if a team makes the playoffs at 8-8 and there are always multiple teams in the NBA playoffs under .500. I don't care what their record is....if they make the playoffs, I will be fired up.

Show me the last time a professional baseball team won 87.5% of their games. Football is just a tad different. A few plays can be the difference between a .500 winning percentage and a .625 winning percentage. In baseball that's the difference between the Reds and Yankees.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
Exactly....that's why I don't care nor will I complain if the Reds were to somehow make the playoffs with a .500 record.
What did the phillies do in the mid 60's?
The NL is so weird this year. The cardinals might find a way to hang on then make the World Series.
