Thanks ... but don't the playoffs start pretty soon after the season is over? Having a possible playoff game on WEDNESDAY seems really odd, don't 1st round playoff games start on Tuesday??

NL playoffs are scheduled to start Tuesday but between the makeup the Cardinals would have to play and the playoff games the regular playoffs may be delayed a day or two.
Can you imagine this scenario: The Cards have to play on Monday and then win/lose to create a three way tie. Then they play the Astros and if they win, the Reds on Wednesday. If the Cards were to win all three they would have essentially already played a playoff series while their opponent has had a week off. This three way tie scenario definately hurts StL the most in terms of both diificulty and then eventual playoff games. Not that I'm sad about it.
