A win makes us 81-81. Hopefully, this season will be an initial building point.

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Marty had Steve Stewart choked up big time.

I'm intrigued by Encarnacion at 1st base. Could be interesting.

    Reds lose 1-0.

    Their 6th straight losing season.

Marty did say some kind words to Steve Stewart before he went downstairs to do the Star Of The Game Show.

A very emotional fairwell by Steve following his post game show. He thanked everyone and said he still hoped to work somewhere in Cincinnati (Reds TV network?). His final words were "I have a plane to catch and you have a football game to watch"

    A CLASS ACT.

I agree. He certainly sounded like a standup guy and a solid voice in the booth. I wish him luck.

But there's real subtext in his final words: "you have a football game to watch."

Indeed, the heart of the city's fandom beats in PB Stadium. This organization has miles to go before they catch the feeling that's been created by Marvin Lewis and Co. down just a few city blocks west.

Right now, that's the story with the Reds' organization, whether you care to admit it or not: it's still the patient etherized upon the table, and the Bengals, well the Bengals have lapped the Reds many times over.

I noticed that too. Nothing about postseason baseball to watch, just football.

You are correct. And while the Bengals deserve credit for what they have done, this upsets me inordinately and to no end. I take it personally.
There is no such thing as a pitching prospect.
