Castro has played first. If this is the lineup, just would have let Castro play first and keep EE at third. Don't see the point of messing around for one game.
Looks like some foreshadowing possibly.

Well, if they have designs on pulling the same crap next year with Edwin as they did this year, then I'd much rather they trade him for pitching; what the hell's the point in having Edwin on the roster if he's only going to get a half-season's ABs sitting behind Castro and Rich?

More likely, they may want EE to play first against lefties, when Hatteberg sits. He would stay at third, except against lefties. Maybe Brendan Harris could play third in those situations.
I don't think they intend to sit EE next year, there is absolutely no sign of that.
I just question why they are doing this for one game at the end of the season. Don't know what that accomplishes.
Umm why?
You won't find a 3rd baseman with Edwin's skills.
The Reds are dumber than I thought if they permanently move Encarnacion to 1B next year. It's hard to find a 3B with as much range and a great arm like EdE has, plus the Reds have the best 1B prospect in the minors who is ready to take over at first base. That would make this move all the more puzzling.
