BA names Chris Denorfia No. 20 prospect in Intl League

    I'll save everyone the suspense.

BA doesn't revel online their rankings for the IL until next Wednesday. However, my magazine came in the mail today, and in it they have him ranked No. 20 overall in the IL. Former Reds draft pick Jeremy Sowers was ranked No. 3.

    Better than 21st.

I assume no other Redlegs made the cut?

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Cincinnati Bengals - None
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

    You assume correctly.

Delmon Young was the No.1, w/ Lastings Milledge as No. 2.

Also of great personal interest to me - Charlie Haeger, the White Sox knuckleballer, came in at No. 19.

Always have to cheer for the knuckleballers.

What is the correct method for doing so? I say fist bumps.

Considering that AAA is usually filled with faded vets and emergency relacement AAAA types, 20th in the IL seems low and doesn't fill me with confidence. Since most teams keep their up and coming prospects in AA, I'm surprised that there are even 20 to fill the list. I'm guessing his age had a lot to do with the low ranking but he'll still be an OK Major leaguer for a while. I'm holding on to that hope anyway.

Actually mostly all prospects spend time in AAA. Maybe not the entire season but a part of the season. So the list is usually pretty good. Curtis Granderson was #19 last year and he's pretty good. Edwin Encarnacion was #7 last year as well.

The IL Chat is today on Baseball America - same deal as last week.

Anyone who wants me to ask a specific question, do so on this thread

And here is the shortened version of Denorfia's scouting report

Overachiever, plays with a passion, hits for average, good defense. Line Drive hitter, but will probably never hit more than 15 home runs in the majors. Good two strike hitter. Average range in CF. Enough Arm to play right. Speed is his strongest tool. Future probably as a 4th OF.

well, I had exactly one question answered

    Q: Josh from Phoenix asks:
Is Brendan Harris an IL Phantom or legit 2B prospect?

A: Matt Eddy: Last few questions . . . Harris needs to find the right organization because it looks like he can play. That organization might be the Reds, with Brandon Phillips moving to shortstop next season.

I think they nailed Harris with that one. If Phillips moves to SS and can glove it over there, Harris looks like the heir to 2B. Two years from now an infield of Harris, Phillips, EE and Votto is something I like.
