T.G. is the head baseball coach of San Diago St. That is "big time" college baseball. He will be back in the big leagues, but only as the head guy.

1st pick of the 2023 baseball amateur draft
Tony Gwynn is San Diego. The only way he comes to the midwest is to coach his son in Milwaukee. I don't see it.
"My mission is to be the ray of hope, the guy who stands out there on that beautiful field and owns up to his mistakes and lets people know it's never completely hopeless, no matter how bad it seems at the time. I have a platform and a message, and now I go to bed at night, sober and happy, praying I can be a good messenger." -Josh Hamilton
Dave Parker is intriguing. I see he was the Cardinals batting coach in 1998, the year McGuire hit 70 homers. They had a team average of .258 which looks to have been middle of the pack. Apparently he has also been a special hitting instructor for the Pirates, but I don't know how recently.
How about George Foster?

Aaron Harang
Danny Driessen!
Perhaps thats why the Reds signed Juan Castro long-term...
player/coach
Ok, I'll say it. Chris Chambliss.
