Nuxhall Nominated for Ford Frick Award

Joe Nuxhall's name will be on this year's ballot for the Ford Frick Award, the broadcasting win of the HOF.

CINCINNATI -- Maybe this will be the year that Joe Nuxhall can say, "'The ol' left-hander' is rounding third and headed for the Hall of Fame."

Nuxhall's name was back among the list of nominees for the annual Ford C. Frick Award that was released on Wednesday. The Frick Award has been given annually by the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., since 1978 to broadcasters who "make major contributions to the game of baseball."

Is this being voted on by the fans yet again?

Fans with a keen ear for the sounds that emanate from baseball's broadcast booths will have a chance to put their favorite announcers in position to be honored by the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Balloting for the Ford C. Frick Award for broadcasting excellence is under way, with the top three vote-getters by the fans automatically qualifying for the 10-member ballot that will be formulated by a 20-member committee and announced on Dec. 6. The winner will be announced Feb. 22, 2007, and will receive the award during the induction ceremony on July 29 at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Fans may vote for up to three of their favorites in balloting conducted on MLB.com, the Web site of the 30 Major League clubs, and on the Hall of Fame's Web site, baseballhalloffame.org. Fans can vote up to once a day throughout the month of November.

You can also vote for George Grande and Steve Lyons. Fun!

I sure hope he wins. He deserves it so much more than Marty ever did, IMO.

If I recall correctly, Nuxie came very close a couple of years ago.
It would be something to have two Hall-of-Fame broadcasters in the booth at the same time.
