Kenny Rogers should have gotten the sticky glove award as well

I get the feeling that a lot of GMs have that same discussion with their scouts when looking for players to "improve the team defense."

    Really interesting stuff.

Notice how the Oakland defenders with a reputation for good defense (Chavez, Kotsay) didn't rate very well on this system, while those with poor to middling reputations (Crosby, Swisher, Bradley) had pretty high scores.

Did you look at the NL? Lots of guys with defensive reputations rated pretty low there as well. Ausmus, Orlando Hudson, Jack Wilson, Clayton (big surprise ), and Andruw Jones all rated fairly low for their positions. Griffey rated dead last among centerfielders.

Orlando Hudson won the gold glove award given out by Bill James this year in his handbook/Defensive Bible. That should say something.

Also, Jeter!?? Baseball Prospectus writers and staff are taking a day off today to blow off some steam.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Jeter deserves his gold glove like Elvis deserved his black belt.

Austin Kearns rated pretty well, despite being fat, lazy, slovenly, and all the other sour grape names people here called him.

I noticed that. I think he was 4th among RF'ers. Not bad for a guy with no work ethic.
