I would consider all three but JR. would not go for it, to far from Orlando.
1 I could see that if Geoff has indeed worn out his welcome.
2 If Griffey would accept a trade I could see it happening. I doubt he'd accept a trade there honestly though.
3 Question 1: Do we REALLY want Dumpster back? Question 2: Why do we want Dumpster back? Question 3 Why would Chicago want Homer? So for this one I gotta say no.
1. I think he has. They like Hart and Mench, and Damien Miller's option is like 3.25 mil -- and he's getting old. Dumping Jenkins, getting a younger catcher, saving over 5 mil in the process would be appealling. I'd even throw in Cormier if necessary.
2. I definitely remember reading somewhere that Griffey's contract stipulates he will only accept trades to Los Angeles, Houston, Atlanta, and St. Louis. That may be completely outdated now but like I've said before: if the Reds make it clear he's not welcome in CF anymore, we'll find out how important the Orlando thing really is. Until they work a trade and he actually shoots it down, I don't want anyone telling me it's impossible to move him.
3. This one is my least favorite, too. But Dempster would be a "proven closer" to put into the role and help define the other roles in the pen. There are also reasons to believe he could bounce back and be an adequate closer. He was actually quite good in '05 and for the first couple months last year. He didn't start struggling until the team had tanked and he didn't get regular playing time. Also, he became a father for the first time during the season, which may or may not have affected his focus. The Cubs probably wouldn't do this, but there's a chance that as they rebuild their rotation, Milton's experience as an innings eater would be attractive to them. Plus he's in a contract year, so the incentive is there to perform. Bottom line is I'd rather have Dempster than Milton, though probably so would the Cubs.
4.80 ERA, made 4.33 mil last year, WHIP 1.51 sounds like the same guy we wanted to run out of town after he came in with a bum elbow. If they make this deal strictly to get rid of Milton fine, otherwise I dont want dumpster back.
*Edit* Dumpster got absolutely blown up by LHH this year. LHH hit .310 with a whip of .839 and on the road he sucked as bad .314 baa and an ops of .794. Vs RHH .216 and a whip of .615. If you bring him in he's here to be a MR (RH specialist) not a closer.

Would Troy Percival any better. I know he had surgery this past year but he has been Closer in past with 33 saves in 2004 for Angels.
I prefer Weathers closing over Dempster.

Jenkins for LaRue makes some sense.
The Brew Crew needs help at catcher & they want to move Jenkins.
if dunn or kgr is traded Jenkins could play lf or rf vs righties
Geoff Jenkins---Reds would be taking on more salary with Jenkins' contract. Are the Reds really improving themselves?
2. KGJ for Orlando Cabrera---Griffey has no intentions of playing on the West Coast. With 10-5 rights, he controls any deal.
3. Eric Milton for Ryan Dempster---Cubs won't move Dempster till they get a closer to replace him. In the meantime, why would they trade for Milton when they can sign a free agent pitcher? If you're the Cubs would you trade for Milton?
I thank you in advance for your cooperation.[/QUOTE]
