Haha, I saw it last night. I'm worried about it being played out with its move to the mainstream like Dave Chappelle and so many other cool things, but I won't be too curmudgeonly about it and enjoy it while I can. It was hilarious. I've heard a few critics say it's the funniest movie....eva. I don't know, but it was what you expect if you're familiar with the character. The "fight" scene had to be the most hilarious in a movie filled with good stuff.

I thought it was funny at times, but then others kind of stupid. I still think his other characters Ali-G and Bruno are alot funnier....

Was funny...but not "eva". Thought the naked wrestling scene was rather disturbing and went on too long only to lose its effectiveness.

One of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I had never seen any of his previous stuff, so it was my first chance to see the act. It was amazing.

And now, having seen it, you can go to this site and watch all the clips from the Ali G Show:

I particularly enjoyed his interview with Conan.

It was pretty funny. I agree with Smith that the wrestling bit went on too long. I would have enjoyed seeing more of the reality segments and less of that.

Mrs. U enjoyed the wedding sack scene. "Acceptance is not required."

His accent makes me think of Father Guido Sarducci from SNL.

Favorite scene. Borat at his nadir...ice cream truck alone in the middle of the field, Borat alone in the back of the truck with his chicken, his airline ticket, his Pamela shrine...and what the bear left behind. Poignantly hilarious.

AWESOME movie IMO.... favorite scene -- when he's talking to the humor guy who is teaching him about american humor and the part where he talks about his retarded brother

    Re: Borat

Saw it with M2 last night.

The funny parts were really, really funny. I disagree about the wrestling scene. That's probably the part of the movie where I laughed the hardest, and I was still laughing pretty hard at the end.

Really, the only scene in the movie I wanted to end sooner than it ended was the dinner party. It was probably the only part of the movie where I felt sympathy for his "victims." He was pretty harsh to the not-so-attractive wife. Much of the movie worked because the editors effectively ended the scene at the point where it moved from funny to uncomfortable.

This is what I feel separates this guy from Tom Green. The laughs/queasy ratio is much higher.

Question: was the Pam Anderson scene real? If so, how in the world did he make it all the way out to the parking lot before security took him down?

I assume most of you heard about the frat boys suing 20th century fox, saying they were liquored up before signing the consent form to be in the movie, and that they were verbally assured that the film would not appear in the U.S.

You think their lawyer would spell check the first name of the actor playing Borat. Isn't it "Sacha," not "Sasha."

She was clued in to it from what I heard.

My folks went and saw it... they were appalled... I asked them if they were aware of target marketing, or if they were aware of entertainment channels and who the marketers were trying to appeal to.

In short I said "Just because a movie gets good reviews doesn't mean that the content is what you are pursuing."
