I'd buy this premise. Jack Daniels and Jim Beam messed me up as a youth, but I can drink Gin and Vodka with the best of them. My experience also taught me that the cheaper the alcohol, the worse the hangover. So I stay away from any kind of "well" drinks. I've also heard that beer hangovers often result from drinking too many draft beers at a bar that doesn't properly clean its beer lines and its taps. So if you're drinking at a dive bar, or sometimes even a decent bar, it's better to get bottled beer.

    It's all true.
My friends and I swore by the darker-the-liquor-worse-the-hangover rule of thumb for years. I get genuinely upset when I read about studies like this; they could have spent ten years putting their research money into a more hands-on study, ie. following me around and buying all my drinks.

The first time I ever got sick from drinking I drank coconut rum, Guinness, Franzia, and beer in the space of a couple of hours. Possibly the worse combination of beverages ever assembled.

I used to have a great amount of techniques for curing hangovers: peanut butter toast before bed, Excedrin, milk, Alka-Seltzer morning-after medicine (actually concocted for hangovers), on and on. The only thing that works for me now is sleep.

For me it's the-oilier-the-liquor-the-more-likely-to-cause-heaving rule. Gin's always made me puke.

I thought this was all but proven years ago.

It's not just the kind of alcohol. It's the quality. Cheap booze gives brutal hangovers. The good stuff, not so much.

I use to complain to a buddy about various beers giving me headaches and hangovers, and he mentioned Miller Lite, I was skeptical thinking he was just making noise, but he was right, Miller Lite never did either to me. I don't drink anymore but Scotch, Rum and Jim Beam use to make me pray "I'll never do it again"

Yep. And MAKE yourself drink at least a glass of water before you go to bed. Take a couple of excedrins or aspirin too.

A lot of the discomfort comes from dehydration. Drink water.

Yep. A few pints of water on the rocks before sleep is the best way to prevent a hangover.

IMO... wine (especially cheap wine) is the worse.

Anyone ever remember playing this game?....

Yep. The only problem was remembering to do this while still conscious.

As someone who is hung over NOW, I can say that too much of anything will hurt the next day. However, I can also attest to the miracle that is "Chaser". Those little pills are a gift from god as far as hangovers go.

Take big bites ... I like that.

I have always been a bit lucky with the hangovers. I can generally drink more than my peers yet I rarely get hangovers to any debilitating degree. When I know that I have overdone it I'll take a vitamen, asprin, and a glass of water before bed. No worries.
