    Classic all-time TV episode.

Les Nesman: "Oh the humanity! The turkeys are hitting the ground like bags of wet cement!"

Jennifer (on the phone to the Human Society): "Well... alot of turkeys don't make it through Thanksgiving."

Is it possible that Andy's jeans have gotten tighter over the decades? Baryshnikov had more wiggle room.

That one and the softball game episode were my all time favorites.

I remember Les Nessman describing the stunt and then when he was cut off Johnny Fever described the incident by saying the mall had been bombed with turkeys.

If you ever needed proof of the existence of stupid people, read the comments.

I hope the radio station & those invloved are charged with whatever animal cruelty & abuse laws exist in that state. I find it extremely hard to believe that out of everyone involved, someone didn't know that turkeys can't fly like a bird. Or that they at least didn't think to ask someone with half a brain. They can't surely be that stupid. I think they're lying about their complete ignorance & I hope the courts see through it & hit them hard to set an example.
Just because the animals involved are turkeys does not make it any less cruel. How would people feel if they threw cats out of the helicopter claiming they thought cats always landed on their feet..?!
    classic.

Too funny. I guess some people are just too ready to launch into a tirade and haven't spent enough time absorbing classic 70/80's TV programs! hahahahaha Good stuff.

GET THIS GUY OUT OF THE CITY. HAS HE EVER SEEN A WILD TURKEY? THERE'S AS MUCH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A THANKSGIVING BUTTERBALL TURKEY, AND A WILD TURKEY, AS THERE IS BETWEEN A GLIDER AND AN F-16.
DOES HE KNOW ANY HUNTERS? DID HE TELL ANYONE ELSE, OVER 30, BEFORE HE TOOK THE TURKEYS UP? SOMEONE IN CINCINATTI, HAS BEEN HUNTING, OR HAS SEEN A WILD TURKEY BEFORE.
First off, WHY IS HE YELLING?!? Anyway, even more interesting is this supposed lawsuit! I get the feeling that someone was tricked and took it personal, or has no sense of humor. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that at this site, you can submit a "press release" and have it appear on this site. I did a search on google to see if I could find anything about the lawsuit, but found nothing. The page was linked in a comment at the bottom of the blog in question.

Finally, to classify this under total rediculousness, some other bloggers who took it upon themselves to report "animal cruelty" by WKRP using the original blog as a reference.

My personal favorite comes from a Dell Axim message board. Heres the link if you want to check it out, but I'll post the best part.

Cincinatti, Ohio, proves to the rest of the world that : we can be out-dumb everyone else.

    http://politicsofdancing.blogspot.co...t-turkeys.html

"An advertising stunt dreamed up by a local Cincinnati radio station went terribly wrong when twenty live turkeys plummeted to their deaths after being dropped out of a helicopter under the misguided assumption that they would all just fly away."

I'm questioning the validity of the story because there's no link to a legitimate news agency or something not a blog. On the other hand, a quick Google Search proves something actually happened.

EDIT : Appears to be setup. I'm on a GPRS connection so I couldn't check any of the links. Cincinatti, Ohio restored to "slightly stupid" from "completely stupid".

I find it hard to be hurt by an insult from a person who:

    1. Believed this story to begin with
    2. Obviously didn't look into the google search he conducted, because if he did he would have understood that it did actually happen... In a TV show
    3. Insults a city based on a story that he himself had some doubts about
    4. Can't even spell Cincinnati even though it is spelled correctly in the story he quoted.

If there really are people out there as gullible as this guy, God help us all. If you ever needed a reason to appreciate a fine board like Redszone, remember that people like this do not last long on here. By people like this, I mean people who claim that when you consider what part of your PDA will fail first, you say its you stylus because you broke it out of frustration, not the Bluetooth connection that you couldn't get to work which caused you to break the stylus in the first place...

I just had my stylus fail on me. I snapped it in half out of frustration. For some odd reason Bluetooth would not cooperate.
Who could have imagined that a 70/80's TV show could spark something like this now.

Without a doubt, one of the funniest bits on TV ever.
