Ed Hodge, 47, enters his first season with the Phillies after spending the last five years in the Cincinnati Reds organization. Hodge joined the Reds in 2002 as the pitching coach at Rookie Billings and guided a staff that led the Pioneer League with a 3.72 ERA. He spent the next two seasons with the Rookie GCL Reds (2003) and Class-A Potomac (2004). The last two seasons, Hodge served as the pitching coach for Sarasota in the Florida State League. Prior to joining the organization, Hodge spent nine years as a college coach. The former left-handed pitcher was drafted by Minnesota in the fifth round of the June 1979 draft and went on to pitch nine professional seasons, reaching the majors with the Twins in 1984. Ed currently resides in Johnson City, TN.

My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

Interesting, TC made it sound like Wayne was getting rid of some coaches who weren't pulling their weight, yet the DRays hires one of the castoffs... Is it coincidental that he was stollen at the same time that others were let go, or do the DRays see something Wayne doesn't? TC, could you possibly say something about this (without getting in trouble)?

Very odd since I thought TC had stated that the Lookouts had some problems in the coaching department (most farm teams of the Reds actually).

I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit.

Well, weigh this when you factor things. Moloney just went from AA to Low A. There aren't very many times that's considered a promotion.

Hodge just went High A to Low A.
The lowest acceptable payroll amount for ownership to show they are not greedy pigs is 15 million more than they are currently paying. No matter what that currently is.
