Bailey peer Rogers to have shoulder surgery.

Drafted just ahead of Bailey in 2004 was Mark Rogers, a prep hurler with higher radar-gun readings but less track record (from the NE, not Texas). He did actually get a slightly lower bonus than Homer.

His career's not gonna end because of this, but he won't be ready for Opening Day '07.

Please don't use the words "Bailey" and "surgery" in the same sentence. It scares me.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

It just shows the risks that are involved with young pitchers these days. We have had our share of operations. Pauley, Gardener, and Gruler so I don't think we are do for awhile.

Darn skippy. When you can trade two in the bush for one definite one in the hand, do it.
