I'm thinking about flying her down on our 1-year anniversary and doing it "our" way. Now I know it won't be legal (because we're already married) but I hope some place would allow us to just do the ceremony.

Can't believe no one has said it yet....

    Gotta go visit Pete!

Myself and a couple college friends visited Vegas in August when we were working in Phoenix this summer. We did it on the cheap staying in the Stratosphere (worked out well) and we didn't do any shows. We walked the entire strip from the Stratosphere all the way down one of the nights. We went into most of the casinos and did a little gambling but mostly just checked out all of the displays. Really cheap and great way to spend a night.

We did see Pete in the Ceasar's Palace shops the next afternoon purely by accident. There was a car display over there we went to check out and we were walking thru the mall and all of a sudden there's Pete. Definately did not pay the outrageous prices they wanted for autographs and pictures.

Elvis married An Margret there at the end of Viva Las Vegas at that particular place.

Afterwards we rode the coaster at NY NY, it was an apt reaction to the paradigm shift.

Sorry to tell you this, but it was no accident seeing Pete at a casino.

Actually the whole rest of the day we kept joking about where we thought we would run into Pete that night. I think we decided he would be at one of the older casinos running up a huge tab.

Johnny Bench had also been there at the same table earlier in the day. I don't know if Bench has joined Pete out there on a regular basis or if it was a one time thing.

Pete actually works in the memorabilia shop in the Caesar's Palace Shops. He apparently is there several days each month.

    Re: Vegas

I posted this last year after I ran into Pete at Paris Las Vegas

I figure it's easier to cut & paste than re-summerize.

Rose is at Casears 15 times a month. Repeat that - every other day of every month he's in Vegas hawking his autograph. No one is paying him to come back with that kind of frequency if he's not making bank for that business.

I've been to Vegas four times in the last 24 months. I've seen him in Casears on every trip. Twice he had a monster sized crowd around him, two other times I walked by and there wasn't a soul who seemed interested in him signing. Heck, I was in a little bistro in Paris-Las Vegas getting a meal last march madness and sat at the table across from him - he saw my reds visor on my head and gave me a wink and a thumbs up.

It's $50 for an autograph - $100 for an autograph and to have your picture taken with him. I picked up two baseballs from him on one trip - one for my father and one for my grandfather. We talked for a few minutes - it was one of the non busy times, where I told him that the last time I tried to get his autographs he was swamped and he said "it comes and goes". But he was nice overall.

Rose did an interview in this month's FHM where he said that the Casears deal is a two-fer for him. He gets to easily bet on the horses and it's a nice chunk of change for him.

    Re: Vegas

I was there in early November of 2000. I won the trip through a local radio station (WEBN). It was a whirlwind trip! Left on Friday and came back Sunday night but was a blast (took a week to recover)! We stayed at the MGM. Was very nice. We spent Saturday casino hopping. My favorite was NY NY! Really cool place and rode the coaster a few times. Saturday night we went to The Hard Rock to see STP and Godsmack in concert. The Hard Rock was pretty impressive also.

Only had 2 meals while we were there and they were at this buffet place across the street from the MGM. I have no idea what it was even called. I just know that we had coupons for buy one get one. The two of us were able to eat all we wanted for $4.99. It was pretty good also.

I can't believe how laid back it is! We were waiting in line for a cab to take us to the Hard rock at the hotel. My friend and I were both trying to finish our beer before we got in. The cab driver told us not to chug it and gave us each a paper cup to put our beer in and we finished them in the cab on the way! They are kidding when they say anything goes in Vegas!!

Would love to go back some day when I have more time to really enjoy it. Very fun place!!

    Re: Vegas

Just wanted to give everyone my quick review.

First off we had a great time, NY NY was a cool place.

The strip was packed, gambling in the new hotels on the strip were a joke, saw very few slot winners, and the tables were $15-25 min. and you saw a cocktail waitress once an hour if you were lucky.

KIDS,KIDS,KIDS... they were all over the place. Walking down the strip you were constantly tripping over strollers

Downtown was great!!! No kids, and a lot less crowded. Saw more slot winners, and the tables limits were $5. Cocktail waitress were always coming around. A drink on the strip was $8-9, same drink downtown $3.

We did charge all of are food and drinks to our room, and when we checked out we were comped about $50 of it.

When I do it again I would either stay downtown, or stay at one of the older hotels at the strip. We had a blast at the Tropacania, and hung out there the last night because it was a lot more like downtown.

    Just my 2 cents

I haven't been to Vegas since '79...I'm guessing a lot has changed.
