Here's my summary on those last three: a local lefty with a terrible K/BB ratio, a no-hit catcher (we needed more of those--thanks, Wayne), and a guy known for potential but no production (was twice a first-round draft pick but but didn't sign until he was a third-round pick--since then, he's been a rule-V guy who was returned). I guess I'm remotely excited about Godwin--it looks like he mainly just needs to work on having a little more patience at the plate.
Tyrell Godwin was born in my Home town Wilmington, NC. I am glad the Reds signed him.
Godwin also is very fast and a stolen base threat.

Good, 27, first cracked the bigs in 2003, starting ten games out of sixteen appearances (4-2, 5.29 ERA). Injury issues kept him from getting more innings during the Diamondbacks' 51-111 conflagration in '04, as he was held to 40.2 in the majors (1-2, 5.31). Arizona let him go after '04 and Andrew signed with Detroit, posting a 3.68 ERA in the AAA Toledo rotation in 2005. He got just five innings with the Tigers. Last year, with AAA New Orleans (Washington), Good's ERA ballooned to 4.81 in 147.2 innings. He's a pitcher that relies on good control (just over two walks per nine professionally, less than seven Ks). He's also allowed a pretty fair number of homers at all levels.
Ruzic... whoa. First of all, dude's listed at 6-foot-8 and 277 pounds. Second, he's from Australia, not eastern Europe. Third, he was released by Florida after appearing in seventeen games of rookie ball in 2005. So I really have no idea what might be in store for the 25-year-old.
Hey, Hamilton's own Ricky Stone! I really have no idea what he was up to in 2006 (ever since he drifted through St. Louis following his release from the Reds' organization), because nothing's listed- perhaps he pitched in Japan? Anyway, the 32-year-old Stone is still a reasonable veteran fill-in if the entire Reds' pen gets into a bus accident or something.
Good to see Earl Snyder back in town; he must have liked it in Louisville despite a mediocre .257/.319/.430 season for the Bats. His power output has declined from 36 homers in 2004 to 29 in '05 to 17 in '06. Snyder is 31 in May.
Meadows and Bellhorn we knew, of course.
Looks like Ben Weber had to fight his way back into O.B. through the indy leagues, but it didn't take long. Abad decided to return for his 15th pro season in organization number eight; may he bounce back from the injuries that robbed him of a portion of his 2006 (and his bat). Riedling missed all but 16 PCL games in 2006; talk about a guy whose fortunes have declined since he left Cincinnati. Despite good numbers at Sarasota (where he basically took the closer's job right out of Abe Woody's hands), the Reds must not have considered 24-year-old Granado a prospect; this is the second time he's been let go. Sardinha will join fellow Bowden Phenom David Espinosa in the threads of the Mud Hens; currently these two have two major-league appearances between them. Blumenthal was a 2005 21st-round pick by the Reds who was let go in mid-2006. He must know someone in Tampa. And ex-Reds' NDFA Ruiz has done his Steve Bilko impression around Single-A and Double-A ball for several seasons since his 2003 release. Why he still hasn't played a game of AAA at age 29 but continues to get contracts... I have no idea.
From phenomhood to disappointment to professional trade acquisition to 13 wins and a 3.83 ERA in '05 to 0-7, 6.93 in '06 to a minor-league deal with Texas... how fast the well-traveled Mr. Chen doth rise and fall.
It's still sort of amazing that hometown boy Scott Sauerbeck's never suited up in Red. He recovered from an embarrassing public incident to appear in forty-six big-league games in 2006... spanning all of twenty-five innings. Ah, to be a LOOGY.
And I think Jason Standridge may have found an organization who can appreciate him a little better.

Ruzic was pitcher of the year in the Australian National Championships held in January. His huge and will be attractive to a number of Redzoners who prefer the overpowering flamethrowing pitcher.
