    2007 predictions!!!

After reading the 2006 predictions, I thought it would be fun to start one for next year. It will be cool to look back on this thread in 12 months!

    1) Florida will win the Football National Championship.

    2) Florida will win the NCAA basketball National Championship....God I hate this year allready.

    3) Reds finish 18 games under .500, Narron fired day after season.

    4) Griffey will not be on the opening day line-up.

    5) Israel will bomb Nuclear sites in Iran.

    6) Hillary will bring up Obama's prior Cocaine use, in Iowa.

    7) McCain will be the front runner for the GOP.

    8) Iraq will get better, and more stable. It can't get worse.

    9) China will handle North Korea. China wants the Olympics not to be boycotted. This will be the threat by the US. No US, no TV coverage, no US tourist, no money.

    10) Detroit and Leyland will win the World Series. Casey gets his ring

    11) Colts pull it together and win the Super Bowl.

    12) Nansy Pelosi will have a harder time pleasing Dems, than the GOP.

    13) Mark McGuire will not make the Hall of Fame this year.

    14) Hank Aaron will not attend Bond's tying or passing homerun. In fact he will break his silence and say that "he did it the right way and did not cheat." Big headlines. Bonds will say something bad about Aaron, and will get even more negative press.

It's your turn have some fun. Try and make political observations and not rants or slants.

    Just kidding here,

The Reds will sign Ron Santo to back up EE at 3rd base. Half of RedsZone will defend the move.

I heard it was actually going to be Brandon Larson, One can teach the other to field and the other can teach on how to hit.

    No. Not Larson.

Santo has all the qualities Wayne and Jerry crave.

Santo knows how to play the game the right way.

Santo has little to no range but he makes all the routine plays.

Santo brings a veteran presence and leadership to the clubhouse.

Harang and Arroyo will anchor the rotation, backed with a solid, yet unspectacular bullpen. Unfortunately, the three, four, and five slots in the rotation will be stitched together all year, with Milton and Lohse spending chunks of time on the DL, and pitching poorly when in the lineup. The fifth spot will be a potpourri of guys like Michalak.

Adam Dunn will continue to take called third strikes with runners in scoring position and less than two outs.

Scott Hatterberg will be solid all year, as will the catching duo as will the shortstop position.

Brandon Phillips will continue to gel into a legitimate star, as will Edwin E.

Ryan Freel will have MVP-type months in April and May, but will then cool off.

Griffey will be on the trading block, but no one will want him, and Jim Bowden will continue to snicker about how he screwed the Reds for years to come.

The Reds go 70-92. Reds fans think having Milton off the books will finally free up Krivsky to go after real talent. Doesn't happen.

Milton will have a good game at some point and people will again refer to him as "solid"

    Re: 2007 predictions!!!

    2001 66-96 .407 5th
    2002 78-84 .481 3rd
    2003 69-93 .426 5th
    2004 76-86 .469 4th
    2005 73-89 .451 5th
    2006 80-82 .494 3rd

A.) The Reds win-loss record for the 2007 season will fall within the range of the 2001-2006 seasons and it will be 73-89 .451, the Reds will finish 4th or lower.
B.) Narron will cost the Reds at least eight wins with his chronic lineup tinkering, not playing his best offensive players, overusing his bullpen and creating apathy amongst his players.
C.) Griffey and Freel will spend time on the DH,
D.) Krivsky will cost the team games by not having enough talented depth to perform during injuries or days off.
E.) Krivsky will overpay for Lohse
F.) The fans will blame Griffey and Dunn even more than they did in 2006, as they have no one else to focus on.
G.) Fans will make excuses with their infamous pat answer, “its just one game”
H.) The optimist will continue to make excuses and be wrong again just like the previous six seasons.
I.) Lou P will out manage Narron and have a very good season with the Cubs as his offense pummels Reds pitching. So won’t the Cards, Brewers and Astros manager's.
J.) Some of us will be saying, “I am sure glad that the Reds did not sign Lilly, Suppan or trade for Garcia" sarcastically, when they pan out for their new teams.
K.) Attendance at the GABP will drop
L.) Phillips and Ross will regress as pitchers adjust to them
M.) We will read words and terms such as “scrappy” “veteran presence” “plays the game the right way” so often that we are repulsed by it.
N.) A few Reds fans become closet Lou and Cubs fans and enjoy good baseball after six years of losing drought.
O.) Harang and Arroyo apply to much pressure on themselves, Narron over uses them and they have a less than expected season.
P.) The fans will get all excited around the trade deadline just to be disappointed again.

EE will have 60 or more EBH's in 2007.

    40 or more 2B's and 20 or more HR's.

PJ Hill for the Heisman! Seriously, 1,730 yards and 16 TDs in the Big 10 as a freshman. On Wisconsin!

    Back on the subject:
    - Arroyo will have an ERA over 4.00
    - Ryan Freel will be traded by the deadline
    - Elizardo Ramirez makes 20+ starts and has an ERA under 5.00
    - Todd Coffey becomes the full-time closer
    - Hat is traded mid-season in a Randa like deal and Votto comes up.
    - Milton is dealt after July 31st (clearing waivers), clearing the way for Bailey, who has been good, but not great at Louisville.
    - EE drives in 100+ and makes the AS team as an injury replacement.
    - Harang is the other Reds AS rep.
    - Dunn hits under .230 as he tries to cut down on strikeouts at management's insistence... again. Fan support collapses further and WK intensifies his efforts to trade him after the season.
    - Dave Ross' OPS is under .800
    - The Reds score under 720 runs but allow only 760 in part due to a surprisingly effective bullpen.
    - Final record, 72-90, 5th place in another crappy NL central. (fewer than 90 wins for the division crown again)

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

    Re: 2007 predictions!!!

Players who will not be with the club because of either trade or outright release:
Milton, Conine, Cormeir, Hattenburg, Ross or Valentine, Griffey.
Arroyo and/or Harang will suffer an arm injury which will knock them out for a prolonged period of time.
Narron will start Crosby and Castro for prolongued periods of time - despite a healthy EE and Denorfia.
Homer will see limited major league action. He will not be bombed, but will not be overpoweringly impressive. Despite showings of brilliance, some will consider him a dud.
The first game to go without a game thread will be played in late July.
A beleagured (sp?) Piniella will have a locker room outburst in June which will be played almost daily on ESPN for the next two weeks.
The Central will once again be the weak link. The team which does clinch (my surprise: The Brewers) will do so not because of their brilliance, but because of the rest of the division's incompetence. Ozzie Guillen will once again make a remark about the weakness of the NL, once again pointing at the Central. No one will argue this time.
Bonds will not be healthy enough to pass Aaron.
Clemens will once again sign in the middle of the year. This time, however, he will prove to be a huge disappointment and promtly retire in late September.
Big Mac does not make the Hall.
At least one celebrity will make an embarassing showing while singing Take Me Out To The Ballgame in Wrigley.
One player will have a season-ending injury caused by playing Wii in the clubhouse. Owners will contemplate banning the game.
Selig will do absolutely nothing to help the game.
The Nationals still will not have a proper owner. Nor a proper GM.
Almost every Marlin excepting Ramirez will suffer a serious sophemore slump.
The Yankees will once again fall short, thanks to terrible pitching.
