    RedsZone Top Ten Prospects

Well, it's that time of year; Sickels has his top ten list out, so does Kevin Goldstein at BP, and the BA list will be along soon. So I thought since we collectively have a certain amount of knowledge on the subject, it would be fun to do a consensus RedsZone top ten list.

Here's how I propose to do it; I'll post a poll of candidates for the #1 slot. I'll leave it open for 2 or 3 days then close it and open a poll for the #2 slot. Thusly, in about a month we'll have our top ten list.

There aren't that many legitimate candidates for #1; as we get further along there will be more options.

TINSTAAPP, I know, but arms like his are few and far between. With luck, he's the ace Cincinnati has been searching for since Rijo in his prime.

There is such a thing as a pitching prospect. If there werent, guys who were bad in the minors would be good in the bigs and guys who dominated the minors would stink it up in the bigs. Oh yeah, and its Homer Bailey.

I agree with the principal behind TINSTAAPP, in so far as there's no "sure thing", but the same could be said about all prospects.

I'd say at this point it's Bailey, then Bruce, then everybody else.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I'm curious why those who didn't vote for Bailey voted the way they did.

As a Reds fan, I pray to God that Homer Bailey is at least a sliver of what he's been pumped up to be.

I can see where some would vote for Bruce over Bailey, but anyone else, I cant understand. The two of them are just head and shoulders ahead of everyone else in the Reds system, and well honestly, in almost all of minor league baseball.

We could have saved some time by skipping straight to #3.

Very true SD, I mean I would imagine Votto could get some votes for #2, but I still see #2 being 75% Jay Bruce, 20% Votto and then other votes for maybe Cueto or Wood.
