    Trevor Hoffman signed by Reds?

I'm uncertain if I heard correctly, but the WLW Sports Talk host tonight (perhaps Cutler) just indicated, I think, the Reds had signed Hoffman to a one-year contract.

I'm finding no immediate verification of this. I apologize if I've completely misunderstood what he was saying, in the midst of a college football-related conversation.

And now I'm finding no indication that Hoffman is even a free agent. Let me apologize to everyone for wasting their time, and suggest to the moderators that they nuke this thread.

Re: Trevor Hoffman signed by Reds?

They may be referring to the fact that Hoffman was drafted by the Reds initially. The Reds lost him to the Marlins in the expansion draft in '92 and he was subsequently flipped to SD for Gary Sheffield in the summer of '93.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

He's under contract to the Padres in 2007 for $6.5M and the club has an option for 2008.

EDIT: The teams option vested in 2006. Hoffman's 2008 salary will be $7.5M ($2M buyout).

    Maybe, THE HAUF?

When I Googled images of C.C. Deville, I had but three questions...
    1. Why does Randy Rhodes show up?
    2. Why is WoY wearing a kilt in those images?
    3. Why am I googling images of C.C Deville in the first place?

I haven't been this confused since I found out Olivia Newton John was old enough to be by mom, or at least since the Reds signed Tony Womack...
