Yeah, I'm pretty sure he missed the "about 10 of you" thread, so that HAS to be it.
Some people play baseball. Baseball plays Jay Bruce.

    Hi RedsZone!

I don't even want to know what the "about 10 of you" thread is. Note also that I said, "Some smart fans." I didn't specify which ones

Also, I don't get out much.

just about any other pitcher with Saarloos' periphrials i'd be very paranoid of. however, with everything i know about Saarloos himself, i very much like what he offers the Reds.

Yes..... the intangibles... heart of a warrior is great and all but I much prefer devoting payroll to grittiness or maybe defensive IQ. In fact, given that grittiness in pitchers was extremely overvalued this off season, maybe defensive IQ is the way to go this year....after all, isn't 80% of grittiness in pitchers really just defensive IQ?

"This isn’t stats vs scouts - this is stats and scouts working together, building an organization that blends the best of both worlds. This is the blueprint for how a baseball organization should be run. And, whether the baseball men of the 20th century like it or not, this is where baseball is going."---Dave Cameron, U.S.S. 99% of intangibles is crap. the only times they mean anything is if you have more than one guy wiht Bonds' personality,or the difference between a Paul Wilson and Kyle Lohse or a Billy Beane and a Lenny Dykstra.

i'm referring more to the fact that Saarloos has a suprisingly low IsoP (150) for a guy with his relativly high HR/9, and that his periphrials, ALL of them say his ERA should be closer to 6 than it is 4. as well, unlike most other finesse pitchers, he can actually K guys, but runs his pitch count up too quickly when he tries to.
