    Dave Concepcion and number 13

Has anyone heard anything regarding Davey's number 13 ever being retired by the Reds? It seems to me 13 is off limits to any newcomer. Davey should be a hall of famer in my book. That looks like an after thought at this point. I think the time has come for Mr. Castellini to make it official.

Some one mentioned on this board, that at Reds Fest Mr. Castellini stated the number will be retired soon.

His number should have been retired YEARS AGO.

My son has my old 1970's poster Of Dave in his bedroom.

I bought that poster off eBay a couple years ago in mint condition. Hangs on my garage wall with Johnny Bench, Ken Anderson, and believe it or not, Vince Ferragamo.

I know all the stat geeks will say there were and are better SS's but...not to me...the guy was the whole package...talent, class, loyalty, dependable.

    Nobody else comes close!

Can't believe the man in the middle for the machine isn't in the hall.

The guy's stats are definitely overlooked compared to today's shorts, which is a shame, because he has influenced so many shorts over the years.

Larkin is just the first I can think of. Gonzalez, Vizquel, Guillen...and on and on.

The Hall is for guys who were the best at what they did during their time.
I would be hard pressed to believe there was a better shortstop than Davey in the 1970s.

Just looked him up on Baseball reference - according to that site, Davey pulled in just over $2.5 million during his entire career. Wow.

I'm guessing the Reds were waiting to do this in the same year that Davey gets voted into Cooperstown. It's time to stop waiting.

and if he made good investments, sold some cows, he's in pretty good shape.

    He finally gained weight.
