    Draft in a video game?

Does anyone know of any baseball video game that has a draft? I know in the latest MVP I think there are 3 levels of minors.

I want to draft, and have 5 levels, and have a very realistic organization where I can play GM for multiple seasons.

Anyone know of any such game out there? Thanks!

Sorry if this is the wrong forum. But it kind of has to do with the minors.

I actually paused a game you might be looking for just to answer your question. I'm currently playing Baseball Mogul '07. There are a lot of great features. The demo is free. I recommend downloading it to see if it's the game for you.

It gives you control of pretty much every aspect of the game, and it's highly addictive, so be warned.

Mvp has the three level of the minors and as far as I know is the only game to currently offer that..

Everyone else just has a few "reserved" minor leaguers for the team to use.

Honestly, I highly suggest MVP 05, but without the roster updates (I can give them to anyone who wants them, I do my own edits as well) its a tad boring.

    I suggest in this order.
    MVP 05
    MLB the Show
    Anything else

Baseball Mogul has a very interesting draft & Development mode.

I've played 06 for a while - you don't actually control the minor league squads - you essentially have a 25 man MLB level roster, and about 20-40 extra minor league players, that you can move up or down as you please. The only part that isn't that realistic is that there isn't a limit - like you can have four SS at AA and no other players and they'll all get simulated stats as a starting SS.

The Draft is pretty unique, you get a scouting report on their current skill, their potential ceiling and your own team scouts rate them on a 1-10 scale of who you should draft.

The whole salary structure in that game is the most realistic of any I've encountered.

But it's not a PS2 style video game. There is no in-game game play, you just simulate thru all of the games.

Worth a look if you're interested. Personally I play MVP 06/or soon MVP 07 for game play & Mogul for GM play.

Thanks for the responses! I've been an MVP player, but just wanted more GM-like control so I might do Mogul. I'll probably do MVP when it comes out so I can do more playing of the game, and play friends as well.

    Out of the Park Baseball.

Baseball Mogul is good, but abstracted somewhat. OOTP has all the details and then some.

I tried OOTP one year but found it to be too much work to be fun. Go with that if you want the responsibilities to include creating 4 different lineups and pitching rotations for not only your major league team, but also all levels of minors. Baseball Mogul is my choice, I have been playing it since it first came out. You are in charge of the draft and 4 levels of minors, but dont worry about lineups for them. Lefty/righty splits are available as well, but I dont find them particularly interesting so I usually turn them off.

Mogul is addicting. I thought I was barely playing, and it was 2 hours later. Thanks though!

Mogul is awesome. My only complaint is that it takes forever to get bailey doing any good. Hopefully in the 08 version they will make him better.

I bought mine as a download so they emailed me the link.

My one complaint is that you can't negotiate after arb numbers are out there, and the arb numbers are crazy! I had Claussen in the minors all season, reaches arb, and wants 3 mil, i offer 2.5 and he wins. Killed it. I also signed some players for like 8 mil 3 yr. Turns out it is 8 mil per year, not 8 overall. Got screwed a bit in my first offseason because of this.

Also Edwin is terrible. That hurts.

The arbitration part is ridiculous. I'm not sure if there's a patch that specifically addresses that, but knowing the fanatics of the game, I'm sure there has to be.
