Isn't this story a couple of months early? Did someone break out the April Fools material already?

I welcome statistical innovations, new training regimins, advances in the scientific aspects of the game, but I think that stuff like this is unnatural. As unnatural as playing in a dome or on astroturf. I guess this is where the grouch old-school part of me comes out.

Is this being done to reduce the chances of Bonds breaking the record? Just a thought.

I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit.

Didnt the Rockies do this the past few years? How did it effect their numbers before and after using the humidor?

Any predictions on what this might do to HR numbers at GABP?

I'm guessing the humidor is set at a lower humidity level than Cincinnati in July. A ball kept in it will likely be dryer than one left outside for the afternoon.

    Meaning the reverse effect?

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

It supressed HRs by a pretty sizeable margin, if memory serves. But I can't be arsed to go look up the actual figures at the moment.

Not necessarily. If the baseballs have been stored in a climate-controlled area all along, there probably won't be a difference worth noticing.

Here is an article from John Walsh over at The Hardball Times looking at some of the effects of using the humidor.
