Which (if any) Baseball Sim Do You Play?

I was curious about how many 'sim' players we have around here. Not fantasy baseball, but sims like Diamond Mind.

I own or have owned everything in the list but am exclusively a Diamond-Mind player now. I may purchase OOTP again once they work out this new version (might give this next one a try).

I don't play fantasy sports anymore, but have played my share in the past.

I've played OOTP since it began. I have a killer Japanese league going right now...I don't know if I'll upgrade right away or not.

I've been with OOTP since version 3 but found 2006 to be awful, 6.5 is still good, in an online league.

I quit on Mogul 3 or 4 years ago, played a recent demo and found it's still about the same game now

I've been playing Mogul recently. Are any of the others free to download as well?

I liked 2006, but you are right--it was terrible for online leagues. 6.5 is better, but I no longer have a Windows PC at home so 2006 it is.

I really enjoyed Baseball Mogul. From a nitpicking standpoint, there was quite a bit I would tweak, but for shear enjoyment I got a lot out of the 2006 free download kaldaniels posted on here last season. I blame him for the hours & hours I spent on there dinking around.

That being said, everyone I've talked to about it who likes baseball sims has told me that OOTP is better. I plan on here in the next couple of weeks plunking down a few bucks to give it a try.

Out of the Park 6.5 (Krono and I are in the same online league).

I bought OOTP 2006 when it came out, and it's so awful I've only had it open on my PC for about two hours combined since I bought it. I may buy 2007 when it comes out next month, but only after trying the demo extensively.

What in the world is a sim?
There is no such thing as a pitching prospect.

I play High Heat Baseball 2002.

It's part arcade game, part sim. But I'm up to year 2017, so most of the real players have retired.

In this case, sim is simply short for "simulation", where one can simulate building a team and playing a season - or several seasons. If I am not mistaken, the game is taken more from a general manager's perspective, rather than the manager/player/GM perspective seen in games such as High Heat and MVP.

And I wish someone could make a realistic combination of a baseball game and SimCity, and in doing so, combining two of my favorite games and becoming my life-long hero.

Agreed. 2006 has it charms for a single player league, but it's just beyond atrocious for an online league. I've been running an online league for a little over three years now and thankfully the switches from 5-6-6.5 were all worth it, but I stayed away from 2006 to see how a friend's league would be and saw that the hesitancy was needed.
