    Planning for the Future

I am optimistic for this year, especially with the recent signings (sometimes it is about chemistry!). But we will need top performances from most of our team if we are going to have a Red October.

So where do we stand for 2008? Below is a list of free agents for 2007. I sure hope Votto is ready, because there isn't any help there. There is potential help at pitching if we are willing to spend, but after this year, are we a starting pitcher and/or a closer away from ascendency?

    A-Rod?

If there is any way we could sign Julio Franco that would be fantastic, he does have a "young body".

    Re: Planning for the Future

The catching market is pretty deep next year, and if Ross falls back to Earth we could be in line for one of them.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

Seeing Miltons name on that list of FA's does my heart good.
